of Presentation Presentation Title: Nanooptic with Plasmons – Noble metal and Semiconductor Nanoparticles for Optical Devices Abstract : We produce size and shape controlled metal, semiconducting and hybrid nanocrystals by wet chemical synthesis, 2 especially in microfluidic continuous flow. Understanding We produce size and shape controlled metal, semiconducting and hybrid nanocrystals by wet chemical synthesis, 2 especially in microfluidic continuous flow. Understanding their crystallization and the resulting properties is a large part of our research and somerecent results are presented. 5 The main direction of our effort is to create nanoparticlesfor optical applications, specifically for single molecule microscopy. We have developednovel single particle scattering spectroscopytechniques, 7 which allow using plasmonicparticles as label in biological environments. We present examples using plasmonic particlesas sensor for nanoscopic orientation, localviscosity, binding events 11 and atomicdistance changes. Synthesis and physicochemical properties of CuMn2O4 nanoparticles; a potential semiconductor for photoelectric devices

CuMn2O4 nanoparticles, a semiconducting materials with tunable functionalities in solid oxide fuel cell, was successfully synthesized via a sol-gel method using its respective metal cations sources i.e. Cu2+ and Mn2+ in an appropriate complexing agent. The vibrational frequencies below 1000 cm-1 of the obtained materials confirmed the formation of metal-oxygen (M-O:Cu-O, Mn-O) bond in the sample...

Local optical responses of plasmon resonances visualised by near-field optical imaging.

The unique optical characteristics of noble metal nanostructures have their origin principally in surface plasmon resonances. To exploit and design the unique characteristics arising from plasmons, an investigation of optical field structures adjacent to the nanostructure is of fundamental importance. As the spatial scale of the optical field structures is essentially smaller than the radiation...

Enhanced magneto-optical effects in composite coaxial nanowires embedded with Ag nanoparticles

Nanostructures decorated with noble metal nanoparticles (NPs) exhibit potential for use in highly sensitive optoelectronic devices through the localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) effect. In this study, Faraday rotation was significantly enhanced through the structural optimization of ferromagnetic (FM)/semiconductor composite nanostructures. Experimental and theoretical results revealed ...

Tuning the influence of metal nanoparticles on ZnO photoluminescence by atomic-layer-deposited dielectric spacer

There is increasing interest in tuning the optical and optoelectronic properties of semiconductor nanostructures using metal nanoparticles in their applications in light-emitting and detection devices. In this work we study the effect of a dielectric Al 2 O 3 gap layer (i.e., spacer) on the interaction of ZnO nanowires with metal nanoparticles. The Al 2 O 3 spacer thickness is varied in the ran...
